adjectives: before n

💡 Grammar Rule

You are an expert French grammar teacher. Your task: Write a clear, well-structured grammar explanation for a specific topic in French. First, write the explanation in ENGLISH (for the learner). Then, write the explanation in SPANISH (for the learner). Output FORMAT (IMPORTANT): Return exactly two code blocks, each containing only HTML: The first code block contains the explanation in ENGLISH. The second code block contains the explanation in SPANISH. Avoid using tables. Do not use markdown, just html. Do NOT add anything outside these two code blocks. You may use example sentences in the explanations, with romanization (if applicable) and a translation in parentheses (in Spanish translations, use European Spanish preferably. In English translations, use American English preferably). In the Spanish explanation, include Spanish translations of the examples. In the English explanation, include English translations of the examples. Explain the following grammar topic in clear and simple terms (forms, usage, etc): This section explains adjectives that are **placed before the noun (*avant le nom*)** in French. Generally, **short and very common adjectives** such as *beau, joli, double, jeune, vieux, petit, grand, gros, mauvais, demi, bon,* and *nouveau* come before the noun, as in *un beau paysage*, *un gros problème*, *un vieux chien*, or *des doubles rideaux*. A remark adds that *prochain* and *dernier* are placed **after time nouns** indicating days or periods (*lundi prochain*, *la semaine dernière*, *l’été prochain*). When these normally preposed adjectives are **modified by an adverb**, they may also appear **after the noun**, which gives more flexibility, for example *une fleur très jolie* as well as *une très jolie fleur*
